AN HOMAGE TO STRENGTH AND SACRIFICE

Hello,

This is my homage to the women who have given us the gift of life: our mothers. The ones who uplift us with unconditional love in times of uncertainty. During a time of hard truths and shared struggles, life has catapulted into focus what it means to be a woman, to nurture and persevere.

I believe all women are equipped with a mothering sensibility that kicks into high gear in times of duress. It’s a calming, loving, hope-filled force ingrained into the DNA of every female, whether she has children or not. Mothering takes many forms. It is the truest beauty because of its indelible mark left on the world.

After a year of unforeseen challenges, many of us are emerging mentally stronger, more resilient and more grateful than we might have had we not endured the fate of 2020. Watching women navigate their family and work responsibilities has only deepened my profound reverence for mothers with children. That’s why this month we focus on selfless women and the sacrifices they’ve made for others. We see you, we honor you and we find our own strength in your stories. They connect us and remind us we’re not alone, which is essential as we begin to heal.  

Showing appreciation for mothers takes on new meaning this May. I’ve put together a small gift guide with a few personal touches on my Instagram (@kirstenkjaerweis). Sensorial candles to soothe. Colorful flowers to uplift. And beautiful wine glasses to encourage a deserved evening break.
