Regenerative Beauty

Kjaer Weis has always been at the forefront of the clean beauty revolution. The Certified Organic products are created with a passion for holistic health, with the understanding that whatever you put on your skin is just as important as what you put in your body.

There is a significant difference between products that begin with the purest of raw materials, and products that have co-opted the term “clean” as a buzzword, but still use conventional materials.

Parabens, for example, are widely used in conventional cosmetics. The UN Environmental Programme lists parabens as “endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) or potential endocrine-disrupting chemicals.” Studies worldwide have shown EDCs to be quite dangerous, especially to women, because they interfere with the production of important hormones.

The overall health benefits of eating cleanly-produced, nutritious foods AND using natural, organic materials on this skin are usually not given enough attention.

Skin is the largest human organ. Chemicals that absorb through the skin can be even more harmful than chemicals we eat because they go directly into our bloodstream, rather than through the liver and kidneys (which help filter toxins).

The body is a holistic system, and any unnatural additive may disturb this order. Certain
chemicals in our food and our personal care products have been tied to the current surge in
allergies and previously unfamiliar autoimmune disorders.

“I remember a study done in Denmark, just when I was getting started with Kjaer Weis,” says
founder, Kirsten Kjaer Weis. “It really emphasized the importance of clean products. It was an
analysis comparing the amount of toxic chemicals in men and women. Women had 40% higher amounts of chemicals.

The test subjects lived in the same area, were surrounded by the same pollution, and ate similar diets. What did the women do differently? One guarantee is that they used more beauty products—day-by-day adding more unnatural additives, perfumes, and chemicals to their skin.

Over a lifetime the effects can be terribly detrimental.
“Left to their own devices, many in the beauty industry would put whatever they could in their
products.” says Kjaer Weis. “There’s been a lot of progress in the last 10 years, and I’m proud to
have been a part of it. As regenerative organic farming becomes more widespread, we plan to use
these materials as much as we possibly can.”

The fact that Kjaer Weis is Certified Organic is a huge feat for a beauty brand, but moving away from conventional farming doesn’t end there. Kjaer Weis is looking toward an even brighter future with regenerative farming.

Regenerative farming works with existing resources and natural biodiversity to remove the need for deadly pesticides and fertilizers, ultimately, revitalizing soil health and entire ecosystems.

Many Kjaer Weis products are already made with biodynamically produced raw materials—a practice that uses the same principles as regenerative farming. But Kjaer Weis plans to incorporate Regenerative Organic Certified materials as much as possible moving forward. It’s a long-term goal that can only be met as more and more producers begin using regenerative techniques.

More than just not interfering with Mother Nature, regenerative farming actually helps to give back. It increases biodiversity, which improves the overall health of an ecosystem. Soil nutrients improve, native species return, aquifers replenish returning the surrounding environment back to what it was hundreds of years ago.
When you choose truly clean beauty products with organic raw materials as part of your daily routine, you choose comprehensive health for your body and the environment. Because what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it. It’s all about the vitality of nature and the transcendent feeling of living in harmony with the planet.
